Safeguarding Trust – Protecting Children
Safeguarding Trust is the Church of Ireland child safeguarding policy.
As the welfare of children is of paramount importance to Killyleagh Parish Church, we follow the Safeguarding Trust policies of the Church of Ireland, which give clear direction to all within the Parish who work with children. As parents entrust their children to the Parish, they have a right to inspect these standards. Please speak to Rev Grobbelaar if you require further information, or contact our safeguarding officers.

Killyleagh Parish Church has a Parish Panel which has responsibility for overseeing the implementation of Safeguarding Trust. Contact details of the Parish Panel members and other useful numbers are affixed to notice boards in the Parish Centre (Church Hall) and Church.
If you have a Safeguarding concern about your child, or any child, please talk to a Panel member in all confidence. Alternatively, you can contact a Duty Social Worker in Gateway directly.

St John the Evangelist, Killyleagh Parish Church were presented with a Safe Church award, alongside St Finnian’s Church Belfast. Our very own Joy and Joyce are pictured with June Butler, All Ireland President Mothers’ Union, Colette Stewart, CEO of Onus and representatives of St Finnian’s.
The Safe Church Initiative was developed by Onus to empower churches to recognise and respond to Domestic Violence and Abuse both within the church and wider community context.
